The best UK forex brokers of 2026, decided by the Amazing Reviews desk

Why these 14 brokers made the shortlist

Every broker on Amazing Reviews holds a live FCA authorisation, offers FSCS protection up to £85,000 and has been opened with real capital by our Canary Wharf desk. We ran 10,000+ test orders across MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView, clocked withdrawal times to UK bank accounts, and pulled spreads through the London session, Sunday open through Friday close, to build the 2026 leaderboard.

Expect measured London-session spreads on every major pair, real-money withdrawal timings to a UK bank, execution latency captured in milliseconds, and a signed editorial verdict from a named analyst, not a scraped affiliate feed.

Global FX in numbers, why the UK still leads

London still clears more than 38% of the $7.5 trillion-a-day global FX market , more than New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo combined. The FCA regulates every broker on this site, capping retail leverage at 1:30 and enforcing negative balance protection, segregated client money and FSCS eligibility as the minimum bar for inclusion.

On this page you'll find our 2026 leaderboard, a full comparison table, 16 category winners, 100+ archived news briefings and a public methodology , everything you need to fund an account with a broker you actually trust.

The Amazing Reviews Methodology

60 Days. Live Capital. Every Broker.

No demo accounts, no scraped spreads, no marketing decks. Every ranking on this page is earned through 60 days of live-account trading from our Canary Wharf desk.

Real accounts. Real spreads. Real withdrawals.

We open every account with our own money, deposit at least £500, place a minimum of 50 live trades per broker across cable, EUR/USD, gold and the DAX 40, then withdraw the balance and time it to a UK bank. That full cycle sits behind every ranking, not a screenshot from a marketing slide.

  • Live-money orders
  • London-session prints
  • Timed withdrawals
  • Named analyst sign-off

100+ criteria. One editorial score.

Each broker is graded across pricing, platforms, product range, research, education, mobile experience, deposit & withdrawal, customer support and regulation. Weights are published, methodology is public, and the score is signed and dated by a named analyst on the review page.

Each category below opens a filtered view of our FCA-regulated shortlist, every broker listed has been opened, funded and stress-tested by the Amazing Reviews desk. Tap any tile to see the winners for that use case.

What UK traders ask us most

Straight answers on FCA regulation, FSCS protection, spread betting tax, choosing your first broker, MT4 vs MT5 and scalping rules.

Every answer is written by a named Amazing Reviews analyst and updated whenever FCA guidance changes or a broker changes its published pricing.

If you still cannot decide, use these answers as a quick checklist before opening an account: confirm the FCA entity, compare the total trading cost, test withdrawals, and choose the platform that matches your trading style rather than the loudest advert.

FCA
What makes a broker "FCA-regulated" in the UK?+

The broker's UK trading entity is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, holds a valid FRN visible on the FCA Register, and offers FSCS protection up to £85,000 on eligible claims.

Is spread betting really tax-free?+

For UK residents, financial spread bets fall outside CGT and Stamp Duty provided spread betting is not your primary source of income. CFDs and share dealing remain subject to CGT.

How much money do I need to start trading forex?+

Several of our top-ranked brokers accept £0 minimum deposits. Realistically, £250,£500 gives enough working capital to size positions responsibly under 1:30 retail leverage.

Do you accept commission from brokers?+

Some links may pay Amazing Reviews a commission at no cost to you. Commercial arrangements do not influence editorial rankings.

What is FSCS protection and how does it work?+

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme protects eligible client money up to £85,000 per person, per firm if an FCA-authorised broker becomes insolvent.

Which platform should I start with, MT4, MT5 or cTrader?+

MT4 remains the most widely supported for EAs and beginners; MT5 adds equities, futures and better backtesting; cTrader offers institutional-grade Level II depth.

Can I scalp with any UK forex broker?+

No. Some FCA firms discourage sub-minute holds. Pepperstone, IC Markets, OANDA and CMC Markets openly welcome scalpers on their raw-spread accounts.

What's the difference between spread betting and CFDs?+

Both are leveraged, both track the underlying, the difference is tax. Spread bets are stake-based and CGT-free in the UK; CFDs are contract-based and subject to CGT on profits above the allowance.

How long do broker withdrawals take?+

FCA-regulated firms typically process to debit cards within 1 business day and to UK bank accounts within 1,3 business days.

Do I need a professional account to get higher leverage?+

Yes. Under FCA/ESMA rules retail accounts are capped at 1:30 on majors. Professional classification removes that cap but also removes some retail protections.

Before you choose a broker

Match the broker to the way you trade, not the other way around

The safest shortlist starts with regulation, but the best final choice depends on strategy. Scalpers need raw spreads and fast execution; beginners need education, clean apps and patient onboarding; swing traders need research, financing clarity and broad market access. Amazing Reviews separates those needs into dedicated pages so you can compare brokers by account type, platform, cost, trading style and experience level before you click through to open an account.

Every broker on our shortlist is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, segregates client money at a UK tier-1 bank and offers FSCS protection up to £85,000 in the event of insolvency. Retail leverage is capped at 1:30 on major FX pairs, negative-balance protection is mandatory and margin close-out kicks in at 50% of required margin, the same guard rails apply whether you sign up with IG, Capital.com or any of the ten other names we cover.

What separates the shortlist is nuance. IG gives you the widest market access and strongest research desk. Capital.com wins on mobile design and AI-assisted learning. Pepperstone and IC Markets rule on cost. Saxo dominates multi-asset wealth. Use the categories below to isolate what actually matters to your setup, then read the full desk review before you deposit a penny of real capital.
